The Spring after my divorce was final, I was prepping to go out and meet with my first post-divorce potential wedding-planning couple. Out of nowhere, I had this pit in my stomach – can I be a wedding planner if I’m divorced? Will people take me seriously? I rolled my eyes, thinking that this was a silly notion, and finished prepping for my meeting.

1) DO NOT LET YOUR GROOMSMEN DRINK BEFORE THE CEREMONY! We had to do our rehearsal the day of the wedding and the guys got there at 1pm for a 5:30 wedding and began drinking immediately. About 3pm we already had 3 guys who were so hammered they could barely walk and one fell down a flight of stairs... my wedding planner cut them off shortly after but the damage was already done. The best man SWAYED back and forth the entire ceremony and cried hysterically (UGLY CRY FACE) and was too drunk to give his speech...

Planning your own wedding can be a stressful and a huge undertaking. Budgets, venues, caterers, florists, details, decorations, and now your soon to be mother in law wants you to repurpose her center pieces from HER wedding 30 years ago. Oh, boy. It’s all a bit overwhelming, to say the least.
